After a long road, CastKeeper has finally entered private beta. It’s taken months to get here, but seeing it work on others’ devices and getting feedback from close friends is a great start to getting this live in the App Store. I want to thank those who have been testing this on their devices, with special thanks to Michael B, for some his detailed reports and feedback.
So What’s Next?
Since the initial beta build, the feedback has resulted in some great additions to the app. Coming soon, CastKeeper will expand its functionality to include the following enhancements before public beta:
New Options for Archiving to S3
- The archive function has been refactored to allow more options than Cloudflare R2 and iCloud Drive. Soon, CastKeeper will also support Backblaze B2, Wasabi, AWS S3, and DigitalOcean Spaces.
- For power users, the ability to add a custom S3 instance will be avaialble.
Transcript Improvements
- Transcripts have been improved with the addition of on-device translation into 15+ languages. Translations do require uses to download a language pack to their device.
- Transcripts will be able to exported to DOCX format with support for Microsoft Word, Pages, and other word processors that support the DOCX format. This DOCX export is also available for Collections.
Public Beta Coming Soon
My current timeline is to have CastKeeper available for public TestFlight within the next 10 days. Once the app is ready, I will update the CastKeeper website with a Public Beta signup form. Spots will be limited, and I cannot guarantee everyone who signs up will receive an invite.
While I’m certainly excited to share CastKeeper with the world, I want to ensure that the experience is the best. So, as Anakin Skywalker would say “I say patience…”
